The election was a painful time for most Americans. And where did we process all that anxiety and frustration? Why, Facebook and Twitter, of course. Social media, in its role as ground zero for viral political commentary, is invaluable, unavoidable, and exhausting. Demographics of social media are changing. Many in the industry are predicting massive changes as we move into the dramatically shifted post-election social media landscape. One of the first social networks was Friendster, a name which implies its purpose: Forming and maintaining friendships.
That was how MySpace and Facebook ostensibly began, as well. As digital technology progresses, people will be hungry for new and interesting ways to share experience.
Premium service will make a splash. Two things will happen to change that previous wisdom. Second, having a place to escape constant advertisements will become very important, something a premium social media experience will offer. In the last political cycle, many relationships were tested unnecessarily when people felt attacked by never-ending political rants.
This will become very important for relationship maintenance. Privacy concerns have plagued social media since its inception, and are only getting more pronounced.
Expect future social media companies to offer more advanced network and profile privacy than ever before. New platforms will try to gear more toward long-term customer wellness as a feature by staving off more addictive qualities. They will focus more on the communal quality of social media rather than offer quick hits of serotonin from gratifying and frustrating outside content. As has been said many times, the internet is written in ink.
Users will want their social media to existing as an ongoing time capsule, a living record of their lives. The main social media giants are slow, lumbering machines, resistant to change, and unbearably clumsy when they do change.Abs yield strength
A mammoth advantage new platforms will have is that they about after the smartphone became ubiquitous. Facebook and Twitter both came before they could really function on a mobile phone, but future platforms will be designed with phones in mind from the beginning. No clumsy borrowing between web and phone platforms -- seamless integration. The future of the internet is mobile, so it stands to reason that mobile-native platforms will be built to last. In a world as chaotic and terrifying as ours, with such a constant barrage of information and stimuli, personal well-being is a thing we must actively pursue and maintain.
Social media will begin to recognize that again. In latewe saw a major development in social media video when Instagram release Instagram Stories and Instagram Live.
The focus on the live format follows in the footsteps of Snapchat and Twitter's Periscope. The camera keeps growing in importance and the ability to see through other people's lenses in real time is becoming a powerful force in social media. Entrepreneur Media, Inc. In order to understand how people use our site generally, and to create more valuable experiences for you, we may collect data about your use of this site both directly and through our partners.
It has empowered individuals to voice their opinions and concerns and share content on their mobile devices in ways no one could have imagined. Along the way, geopolitics and the world of business has been radically transformed. We saw the dramatic impact social media wielded four years ago.
It was a tool that helped spark the Arab Spring—a democratic civil uprising in the Middle East that began in Tunisia in December that helped force rulers from power in such countries as Tunisia, Egypt and Libya. Thanks to Twitter and other social media, people were able to protest and raise awareness in the face of repression. The revolution continues. No doubt, the power of social media is exponential.
Numbers tell the story. Today there are 1. Twitter boasts million active users that send million tweets per day. And each day, 4 billion videos are viewed on YouTube that's 46, per second and 60 million photos are uploaded on Instagram. The trend has helped these tech disruptors go public at hefty valuations.
Facebook, for example, went public in Fast-forward to the future, and we should see global social media usage continue on its upward trajectory. In just four years, eMarketer projects it will nearly double by By then 2. While estimates through are not available, experts agree that by then, use of social media will be ubiquitous and integrated into our daily lives in a multitude of ways.
It is expected social media will be integrated into wearables that track our habits, and virtual experiences will be part of the package. The challenge will be coping with the massive amounts of data that will deluge the masses.
While there's no crystal ball, we asked industry experts to give us their predictions on the future of social media. Share your prediction using Social Mobile is the first step toward the portable future of social media and how we consume it, and I think wearables will be a big part of that. I can see it evolving into an implanted device in our bodies that will connect to everything around us. I think a shared consciousness and a version of telepathic communication is all very likely.
It may sound a little loopy but, hey, Neuromancer is one of my favorite books, and I've enthusiastically been to a Star Trek convention—so, yeah. Imagine shopping an e-commerce store with a friend, virtually trying things on your avatar that's representative of your likeness and conversing in real time with that friend, all while on the go in different places.
11 Ways Social Media Will Evolve in the Future
We're already seeing increased personalization, more individual-to-individual communication, more humanlike algorithms and more specified, diverse social platforms. I think those trends will continue in the future. I see more of a divide happening between socializing and publishing via social media, and platforms like Facebook that merge the two will probably need to pick a lane and change significantly.
Communication in the future will be built on the foundation started by what is today called social media, but it will look much different. The most dramatic change by will not only be the amount of data that will be available to everyone but also the decision-making power of that data.
We currently have thermostats that learn our preferences, watches that take our pulse, and Nike even knows how often and how fast we run, and this is just the beginning. With this much data, personalized content will become the norm.By the average person in the U.
Space colonies, personal privacy, and flying cars will all be hot topics of discussion, but not a reality yet.
TV 2030: What’s the long-term future of television?
Our ability to predict the future is an inexact science. The most accurate predictions generally come from well-informed industry insiders about very near term events.
Much like predicting the weather, the farther we move into the future, the less accurate our predictions become. I will also explain why predictions are important, even when they are wrong. Ignorance is a valuable part of the future. If we knew the future we would have little reason to vote in an election, host a surprise party, or start something new. Once a future is known, we quickly lose interest in trying to influence it.
For this reason, our greatest motivations in life come from NOT knowing the future. Very simply, since no one has a totally clear vision of what lies ahead, we are all left with degrees of accuracy.
Anyone with a higher degree of accuracy, even by only a few percentage points, can achieve a significant competitive advantage. First, you have to decide if you agree that a certain percent of crimes will be solved that way.
If so, it forces you to think about how fast the surveillance industry is growing, how invasive this might be, and whether privacy concerns might start to shift current trends in the other direction. More importantly, it forces you to consider the bigger picture, and whether this is a desirable future. Will this create a fairer justice system, a safer society, or a far scarier place to live? Reading through the prediction above you will likely have experiences a number of thoughts ranging from agreement, to amusement, to confusion, to total disagreement.
As with most predictions, some will be correct and others not.7 social media predictions that will happen by the end of 2019
But the true value in this list will come from giving serious consideration to each of them and deriving your own conclusions. If you were expecting me to aggressively defend all these predictions, then this column will certainly disappoint you. It has been a lifetime journey for me to formulate my thoughts about the future, but there are far too many variables to build a defensible case for any of them.
That said, I would love to hear your thoughts. As always, feel free to contact futurist keynote speaker Thomas Frey by visiting here. I agree that some of them will happen …… some are already happening. However, the future is in the hands of the maker who I believe has ordered the world to be.
It will be rightful thinking to peer into the future but never to allow the worries of tomorrow deprive you the happiness of today. I believe that humanity will thrive on earth for a long time, but the creator has ordered us in space and time, to play our own roles according to HIS pre-determined time-table.
To be able to live a fulfilled life, you must be contended with what you have and believe God for what you cannot have. To think about tomorrow is nice, but to solve the problems of today is greater wisdom. Update my browser now. Fifteen years ago, changes in TV were largely driven by broadcasters. They told people what they wanted, and they wanted it. Today consumers are firmly in the driving seat.
They pick up new devices, demand new content and watch what they want, when they want — and broadcasters must deliver. There are already clues to suggest what developments are on the horizon for the industry. Immersive TV experiences will be part of our regular TV line-up. Role-playing games RPGs will have transformed into RPTV where viewers can influence how TV content plays out by making in-episode decisions that control and change the storyline as they wish.
Filming multiple scenarios and endings will be the norm for producers who will pride themselves on delivering shows that ensure every episode their audience engages with ends up personal to them. Since Beacon technology was introduced init has proved to be an invaluable way for brands to connect and sell their goods to consumers in unique, personalised ways. But what about broadcasters? If beacons can drive sales, why not viewers too? Forget the second screen, by the amount of devices that will be receiving broadcast content will be innumerable.
For example, internet-connected contact lenses with embedded microscopic screens, or TV beamed into your brain via direct brain-to-computer interfaces. The strength of linear TV has always been the social aspect, and VR will be able to replicate this shared experience in a unique way. Personalised virtual viewing lounges where friends and family can gather to watch content together, no matter where they are in the world, will replace the living room. Stepping into your favourite TV shows or movies will also be a possibility, opening up an entirely new viewing dimension.Redis delete key
Monetisation of content is important no matter what year it is, but as the TV landscape expands across devices, platforms and whatever new technologies there are still to come, content owners must smarten their approach to driving revenue. Already consumers are wising up to the ways they can avoid video advertising. While predicting the end of bad ads would be wishful thinking, hyper-personalised advertising content that compliments and improves viewing experiences will be the norm: a win-win for consumers and content owners alike.
Whilst we cannot be sure of how TV will look inwe do know that significant change lies ahead. Your browser is out-of-date!Bary, E.
